Does anyone know why my Gamecube Action Replay won't work on my Wii?

Okay here's the deal. I wanted to play a gamecube game on my wii. And I wanted to use action replay on it. THIS MEANS I AM NOT TRYING TO PLAY A WII GAME, SO DON'T GIVE ME THE ANSWER THAT SAYS, "GC AR WON'T WORK FOR WII GAMES." So anyways, I insert the Action Replay and load up the software off the disc channel, and I select my game and codes, and it tells me to open the lid and insert game. So I hit the eject button, take out the Action Replay disc, but when I put in the gamecube game, it displays what is on tv (like I turned the system off). But my wii is still on. That is to say that if I hit the power button, THEN the wii turns off. I went on the Action Replay website and several forums, and they all say that their action replay works on their wii. Can anyone tell me what the heck is going on?

because there two different systems. how do you connect them together?
