Does it Make Sense to Rent Video Games?
Think back 25 years ago when renting your favorite movie was so easy. You paid a small fee were able to watch the movie of your choice. This was not only very popular, but a very profitable business model for many video stores.
Eventually, you could even rent games for your favorite video game console. Instead of paying $50 to purchase a game you paid $7 for the rental. By having this option it gave you more flexibility in your gaming experience. However, the internet permanently altered this business model.
Instead of going to the local video store people started renting movies online. A variety of online video rental retailers soon began to gain popularity. It was so easy. All you did was select your videos. Set up the order in which you wanted to receive them. And you could keep the videos for as long as you wanted without having to worry about late fees.
Now this option is available for video gamers as well. There are a handful of companies that will allow you to rent the video game of your choice was a small fee. Instead of making a trip to the local video store only to find out they don't have the game you wanted you can quickly and easily access a deeper selection of games.
For example, lets say a new game comes out and you just have to have it. Unfortunately, you find out that the cost of buying the game is a little of reach. Believe me this is very common for a newly released game. Well, all is not lost. By utilizing one of these services you can rent the game at a reduced price. When you're finished simply return it.
The main disadvantage of these services are as follows:
1) You don't own the game. It must be returned. However, if you want to purchase the game most online rental companies will sell it to you.
The advantages of these services are as follows:
- Most people only play a game a few weeks before getting bored. By renting you never get bored. As soon as you are tired of a game you simply return it and get a new one.
- Instead of spending $50 per game you can simply pay a small monthly rental fee and have access to unlimited video game rentals.
- The ability to access more games at a fraction of the cost.
I understand that renting video games is not for everyone. Even at the peak of popularity of renting video tapes from stores there were some people who did not even own a membership. However, there appears to be a shift in the market place where more and more people are opting to rent. As you can see, video game rentals provide a nice alternative to buying new games. It will save you time and lots of money.
There is one more alternative to buying video games. Some people have taken things a step further and are even downloading video games. You pay a one time fee and download all the games you want. To find out more information on how to do this you can read the report below.
