What 3D starter kit to get?
I have a mitsubishi 3D ready TV and a sony 3D blu ray player. Do I have to get a mitsubishi starter kit or will the sony starter kit work?
3D eyeglasses for home use are not compatible between different manufacturers, so you have to buy Mitsubishi eyeglasses to work with your Mitsubishi TV.
The brand of Blu-ray player is not important, because it is the TV that sends out the sync signal for the eyeglasses, not the player. So even though your 3D player is from Sony, the TV brand is what determines your eyeglass type.
I assume you are also buying a 3D TV adapter from Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi 3D TVs use a different 3D standard (3D DLP) that is not compatible with the new 3D Blu-ray standard, but an adapter can fix that problem: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20008699-1.html .
Apparently Panasonic made a player that can send 3D Blu-ray to a 3D DLP TV without an adapter, so in the future there may be more players that work that way, but I doubt that your Sony player has this capability: http://www.electronichouse.com/article/panasonic_3d_blu-ray_players_support_3d_dlp_displays/DLP .
