Microsoft Xbox 360 Component Cable, How many pixels?

I have a 1080p TV. I have an x-box connected the via the 6 component cables that came with it. I am curious how many pixels are offered with this cable, because I may go get a hdmi cable if it goes up to 1080p.

The Xbox 360 Component HD AV cable goes up to 1080i. Yup i not p so it will work in interlaced mode!

But you get the same amount of pixels [just in interlaced mode so half the screen gets refreshed each frame refresh]

Expect that you won't notice it that much unless you play a really really active movie or game. If you have at least 50 or 60hz then that means that even though it is interlaced the combined interlaced refreshes combine to a full refresh at 25hz or 30hz. Still more then the 24hz or 24 images the eye requires to smoothen it.

Of course I am with you here more is better here and you might notice the Progressive Refreshment versus the Interlaced Refreshment of the screen in some situations.

If buying a HDMI cable remember you don't require a $100 monster cable. For a short distance any $10 cable will do!

To get the pixels though you have to changes the bits back into pixels. each bit in this case based upon RGB[8,8,8] values meaning remove the 24bits part in the equation and instead just call it one pixel. Lets go!
1080i 60hz = 62208000 /per second
1080p 60hz = 124416000 /per second

But if you have to ask any 1080p or i frame is based upon 1080 x 1920 = 2073600 pixels... that is if you do that times the 24bits each pixel about 48Mbits. Or 6Mbytes uncompressed!

Funny what you can't learn isn't it. And I haven't even gotten into 30bits for so called Deep Color and the different RGB modes..

In short in this case yes getting a HDMI cable will not at first make a huge difference but in games with allot of action and movies. The face is that Progressive indeed wins out! Don't get fooled by Monsters Marketing terms though...a cheap HDMI cable does fine.
