There is no point in 3D?
Ok i dont see the point it all of us going out to go buy 3D dvd players and tv's because theirs no point.
now let me explain.
Years a go a film came out called Spy Kids 3D, then a few months later they brought out the dvd version which came with TWO dvd one with and one with out 3d and 4 sets of glasses. now heres my point the 3D actually work. can you believe it years before all this 3D tv crap they made a DVD that's worked on an old DVD player and on an old tv. so what the hell is the point in spending thousand of pounds on 3D DVDs and TV when we've hade the technology for years.
So it now time to ask a question(s)
1) what is the difference between old 3D and new 3D apart from it being diffrent colors
2) couldn't they have prolonged the release of HD tvs to a point where they could have built in the 3D aspects in them. now we have to go out and spend even more money on tvs we just dont need
The point is that the new 3DTVs are superior to the kind of 3D old tvs could display.
1) what is the difference between old 3D and new 3D apart from it being different colors
The old 3D format you are familiar with was called anaglyph. It used the cheap red/blue cardboard glasses and worked with any color tv. Some used different colors, but the principle was the same. This type of 3D suffered from two major problems. The cheap plastic lenses didn't always sufficiently filter the correct view to the correct eye. This caused you to see a faint double image. The other major problem was the distortion of color which was caused by the different color lenses over each eye.
The new 3DTVs use a much more advanced electronic system that does not distort color and has much less filtering problems. The electronic glasses have lcd shutters in the lenses. The shutters block out one eye while the tv displays the image for the other eye. The tv and glasses alternate between eyes so fast that your brain can combine them into a complete 3D picture. This complex system requires specialized hardware that only 3DTVs have.
2) couldn't they have prolonged the release of HD tvs to a point where they could have built in the 3D aspects in them. now we have to go out and spend even more money on tvs we just don't need
It's not that simple. HDTVs have been around for about a decade. They aren't going to hold back technology to implement features that a lot of people don't even want. 3D isn't for everyone, and you sound like someone who can live without it. You don't have to worry about your hdtv becoming obsolete and when I say obsolete I mean actually unusable. You are still going to be able to use your 2D hdtv the way you always have. 3DTVs are only here for the people who want to use it and you will still be able to watch everything in 2D.
