What is a good editing program to use for editing videos?

I already have vegas movie studios 10, but I feel like it does not fully work the way I am looking for. I am trying to make a cool intro that i see on other people youtube videos, but i dont feel like i can preform the same effects as they do, i would also like to do more special effects and maybe even some 3D work on a moving clip. if anyone knows anyway i can do any of these thing, please just tell me what program to use or show me maybe a youtube video on how to do it. thank you!

To do cool 3d compositing and video editing, you can bu the Sony Vegas Pro 10, which can do both editing as well as 3d design. But the suite is $600. If you can't afford it, for 3d design you could use blender, which is a free 3d software.
