What Does My TV Require For 3D Capability?

I have a Mitsubishi 3D capable DLP TV. On Thursday Comcast will come in and upgrade my cable box. On their web site it says any modern cable is able to output 3D and I will gain access to 3D just by calling. The model of my TV is the Mitsubishi WD-60738. The Mitsubishi website says that have an adapter for the checkerboard 3D broadcasting that is for DLP. I want to know if I need the adapter or will Comcast likely cater to my TV's 3D requirements?
P.S. technically my TV is a 3D TV it just might need an adapter for the checkerboard 3D output, though I think it supports side by side so does anyone know is comcast outputs that?

You need the adapter and glasses regardless. Are you sure comcast has ESPN 3D? That's the only 3D network right now, besides a couple demo channels.
