What's a FREE software that can help me create 3D and 2D animations?

I love aniboom for those who know what it is. It's like a website for people who like to make animations and post it online for others to see. Well I love watching the videos, but the thing is...I want to create one too. But I have no idea how.
Is there a free download I can find that can create 3-d and 2-d animations. It should do everything a professional one can do too. it doesn't neccessarily have to be for beginners...if its not for beginners is there a website that is free and has written instructions on how to do some stuff or how things work.

The best free 3D animation software by far is Blender - http://www.blender.org it is pretty complex and takes some time to learn but it is capable of pretty much anything you can produce in an expensive 3D suite such as Maya or 3DSMax and can output to AVI and other popular standards easily uploadable to youtube and other such sites, check out what I do with Blender here - http://www.spiceyoursite.co.uk or google Blender Art to see what others create with this excellent software seach in youtube too there is a lot of blender stuff out there.
For 2D stuff you could try Pencil, it's fairly basic but is also free and with a little effort you can produce some good looking stuff. It will let you export in flash format, ideal for web posting.
