Samsung UN55C8000XF or LG 55LW5600 3D TV HELP!?
I am stuck between the 2010 model samsung UN55C8000XF and the 2011 LG 55LW5600. Both offer 3D capability and LED HDTV. They are currently about the same price (LG with a better package including a free blu-ray player and 8 pairs of glasses, the samsung with no package)
Just wondering if anyone knew much about TV's and could give me some help with this one. Thank you!
The first thing to note is the big difference between the two sets - the Samsung uses active shutter glasses, the LG uses passive glasses.
Passive glasses are lighter (hence more comfortable) and significantly cheaper than active glasses. Passive glasses are similar to the ones you get at the cinema.
Active glasses use batteries which need to be replaced at intervals, thse add to the weight of the glasses overall and many people (reportedly) do find them uncomfortable.
The 2 types work differently with the sets to deliver 3D images.
Because of the technlogy involved, LGs passive sets deliver images at half the resolution of active 3D TV models, though both sets listed have got good reviews.
It would be a close choice between the two, and the best option is always going to be a live trial to help you make the most educated choice. Try to find a store that has demo models of both and try them out side by side. That will be the best way to satisfy yourself that you're making the best choice for you..
