There was a 3D demo at a mall yesterday and I got to try out Sony's 3D TVs?

While I was viewing I noticed a very sloppy image. Was this because I was watching from the sides? Or just me? Or the TV was just malfunctional?

The problem wasn't the TV or you, it was the angle at which you were watching from, a major flaw in current active 3D LED technology. They have a very narrow viewing angle which can be a big problem for large families or flexible viewing. If you try to watch 3D on the couch while lying down, their active shutter glasses will shut off completely at around 45 degrees. There are 3D LED TVs that have much much wider viewing angles. LGs Cinema 3D TV has viewing angles up to 179 degrees. You will also be able to watch lying down with no problems.
