E3 2011: Playstation 3D TV

Is the new Playstation TV a good deal?

Okay, for those of you who haven't seen Sony's E3 2011 Press Conference, Sony has created a new 3D TV that has a HDMI cable, Resistance 3, and a pair of 3D glasses, all for $499. The only problem: the TV is only 24 inches. Now, I've got the money for it, and I want a 3D TV, but my only worry is the 24 inch TV. Is the price worth it? Also, my current TV is 26 inches, so would two inches make that big of a difference?

I'm confused...what is this exactly? A 3DTV with a PS3 inside of it? Otherwise why include a PS3 game? But if it has a PS3 inside of it, why isn't there a controller?

Either way, this is a stupid idea.

First keep in mind that Resistance 3 isn't due out until Fall of this year so, we're talking about a package that costs $500 3-6 months from now. So if you want to buy a 3DTV NOW, this isn't the package for you.

Second, if this is just a 24" 3DTV with the word "Playstation" stamped on it, $500 is way too expensive - even if you throw in a $60 game. You can get a ~40" 3DTV for $500 - and it comes with 2 pairs of glasses...but no $60 video game you can't play without another $300.

Third, if this is a TV with a PS3 inside of it, it's not a bad price but still a bad idea. Traditionally, "TV+DVD" combos are pretty unreliable. Consider if either the TV or the PS3 breaks down you pretty much have to replace both items.
